Nurturing Potential, Fostering Growth

The Organization conducted workshops and camps in different fields and also started funding of education of children belonging to economically and socially marginalized families in and around Kasauli and Haridwar/Rishikesh.

  1. Expansion of the Academic Adoption program for Children’s education
The scope of the education initiative was vastly increased under the Academic Adoption Scheme. More children from Rishikesh and Haridwar were enrolled under this scheme.
Systems of monitoring the children’s academic progress and their health disposition were introduced. These are being further strengthened and developed. It was also decided to add midday snacks for children covered under this scheme.

  2. Medical Camps (2020-21)
A Medical camp under the auspices of the Doctors from Fortis Hospital, Vasant Kunj at New Delhi was carried out in August in Kasauli. We also teamed up with the local Rotary Club to spread awareness of the facilities available and who also provided space for the camp.
A similar medical camp was carried out at Kasauli Club on the subsequent day.

  3. Distribution of medicines in Kasauli(2020-21)
Medicines and spectacles were distributed to patients who could not afford the cost of the same.

  4. Vedic Study workshops in Rishikesh

Academic Adoption Program

The activities of the trust became more focused towards the academic adoption program

This program now included more than 35 children. The focus of the organization has now been shifting more towards the area of ensuring that the reach of education should extend to the poorest and most deprived sections of society. We have therefore now enlarged the scope of this program to ensure that children are provided with adequate nutrition and medical care so that they do not miss school due to illness and bad health.

Some of the new initiatives and endeavors that are in process are:

  1. Getting local doctors to carry out periodic medical checks for the children and also attend to minor illnesses.
  2. To provide midday meals for some children.
  3. Celebration of festivals in school
  4. Introduction of Drama, Indian Music and other cultural activities
  5. Meeting Parents periodically
  6. Introduction of monthly assessments of academic performance, attendance, and health updates.

The two main schools which we are working with are GPL Memorial School at Haridwar and BD Memorial School at Gular Dogi in District Tehri, Uttrakhand.

  5. Partial Funding and Raising Funds for Mini Bus/Van for BDM School, Gular Dogi for transporting children from neighboring villages

The trust activities were limited due to pandemic in 2024. Most schools had to shut down and parents of children had to shift back to their villages due to disruption in employment. We provided cell phones and conducted online classes for children to some extent. However the Haridwar school was was very badly affected since most of the students were withdrawn from school.

BDM School in Gular Dogi continued and funding of education of those children continued till March 2024.

The trust continues to conduct workshops and study groups on Indian spiritual thought and philosophy. We have just completed the annual Seva festival at Yoga Niketan Ashram in Rishikesh during 15 Nov to 19 Nov 2024. This is used as a platform to spread awareness and raise donations towards our activities. Another such event called Sankalp is scheduled for February 2025.
